Solicitor’s or Conveyancer’s fees cover searches and legal paperwork. Costs will vary by area and/or the property value and can include;

• Local authority searches
• Drainage and environmental searches
• Coal mining search

Re-mortgage

When re-mortgaging to another lender a certain amount of legal work will still have to be carried out. However, as with other incentives such as a free or refunded valuation, many lenders offer this as a free service which will usually involve the case being referred to a panel firm who will carry out the legal process on their behalf.

If you prefer to appoint your own Solicitor the lender may offer the alternative of a set contribution towards your legal fees.
